Academic heritage as a tool for the development of future scientific careers en Education and Museum: Cultural Heritage and Learning

The project for Innovation and Improvement of Teaching Quality “Academic Heritage as a tool for the development of future scientific careers” pretends to use existing important historical academic collections to strengthen ties between university and school contexts. The research has focused on the study of anatomical models of comparative anatomy kept at two of the most significant educational institutions of different academical levels: the San Isidro Secondary Education Institute and the Veterinary Faculty of the Complutense University of Madrid, both located in the city of Madrid, Spain. To compare both educational contexts we focused on their museums that contain significant collections. Among the objects in custody we have chosen the zoological models and, in particular, a piece that we can find in both museums: the clastic model of the viper head made by Dr. Auzoux. This will be the starting point for future actions. For the development of the project a multidisciplinary team has been assembled consisting of lecturers, students (both from university and Institute), researchers and technicians. The fundamental lines of our research have focused on the didactic use of these pieces, including the documentary study and the conservation and restoration of the viper head using proper techniques. Dissemination activities of this heritage comprised three directions, taking into account our main objective: to recover the interest of classical models as didactic materials. 1. Exhibition for general public; 2. Elaboration of didactic booklets directed to the school public and 3. The design of 3D recreations for the web.

The Digital Revolution in Developing Countries: Brief Analysis of the Dominican Republic

Information and Communications Technologies for Development (ICT4D) can help people in developing countries pursue a wider variety of eco nomic and social activities, which in the majority of the cases can reduce overall poverty significantly. As of this moment, there is an important “Digital divide” regarding broadband internet access between Developed and Developing countries, calling for immediate action plans around the world to build the digital infras tructure that can foster digital economies and thus the digital revolution. Applied to sustainable development, the data revolution calls for the integration of this new data with traditional data to produce high-quality information that is more detailed, timely and relevant for many purposes and users, especially to foster and monitor sustainable development. On the infrastructure side, broadband access must con tinue to be a priority in every digital revolution strategy, given the new Digital divide gaps that have emerged in the past ten years. On the social side, Big data for development can be one of the premier mechanisms that drives the data revolution within the bigger digital revolution picture.

Since the dawn of the 21st century, the Western Hemisphere strategic defense outlook has been notably modified, due to new challenges and threats unknown or underestimated up until that moment. In this context, the adoption of preventive measures is imperative to guarantee the security of the territory and interests of Spain and the EU. The doctrinal concept of the advanced frontier, although justified in certain cases with clear limitations, can never be used to legitimize covert cyber operations against critical infrastructure in sovereign states.

Sobre la aplicabilidad del concepto de frontera avanzada en el ámbito ciber y las condiciones para una ciberguerra justa

Desde los primeros años del Siglo XXI se ha modificado notablemente el panorama estratégico de la defensa occidental, debiendo hacer frente a nuevos retos y amenazas hasta entonces desconocidos o en el mejor de los casos, infravalorados. En dicho concepto se hace imprescindible la adopción de medidas preventivas para garantizar la seguridad sobre el territorio e intereses propios, entre las que destaca la conceptualización de la frontera avanzada entendida como área geográfica sobre la que pueden desplegarse operaciones tal y como es el caso del Norte de áfrica respecto de la geoestratégica de España y la Unión Europea. A La posible traslación de dicho concepto al ámbito de la ciberdefensa en la protección de infraestructuras críticas y la reflexión crítica sobre el Ius ad bellum en la modernidad y postmodernidad son abordadas en esta contribución

Las mujeres en las iconografías femeninas de los videojuegos

Estudiar las diferentes iconografías femeninas en los videojuegos es una prioridad en la sociedad actual que se encuentra inmersa en un mundo visual y audiovisual, a esto, habría que añadir los videojuegos como uno de los productos que más facturan en la actualidad. Esta combinación culmina en un producto multimedia de comunicación audiovisual que instaura, fortalece y difunde estereotipos femeninos de forma silenciosa. Junto a ello, es necesario analizar la inexistencia de lo femenino en esta industria y en este producto audiovisual, donde la invisibilidad de las mujeres no favorece la igualdad de género, al tratarse de un sector en el que las mujeres representan solamente un 20%, lo cual puede repercutir en la representación femenina, ya que esta es creada principalmente por hombres. Por ello, se analiza la imagen actual que se ofrece de las mujeres junto con sus influencias iconográficas, para centrarse en los personajes femeninos de los videojuegos más vendidos durante el primer semestre del 2018, y cómo las féminas se presentan a través de estos videojuegos.
