Aims
Ludos International Journal of Games Studies is an international scientific journal dedicated to the study of games, play and playful activities and their applications in contemporary educational, cultural, communicative, technological and social contexts.
The journal aims to promote the generation, dissemination and exchange of scientific knowledge on games and play as complex phenomena related to learning, communication, creativity, participation, innovation and social transformation.
Ludos International Journal of Games Studies seeks to provide an interdisciplinary space for researchers and professionals from different fields to examine the theoretical, methodological, technological and practical dimensions of games and playful experiences, with particular attention to their relationship with contemporary digital technologies.
The journal also aims to contribute to the development of rigorous research methodologies for the study and evaluation of playful activities and their impact on individuals, organizations, communities and society.
Scope
Ludos International Journal of Games Studies welcomes original research articles, theoretical contributions, methodological studies, systematic and scoping reviews, case studies and other scholarly contributions that address games, play and playful experiences from different disciplinary and methodological perspectives.
The journal's scope includes, but is not limited to, the following areas:
- video games, serious games and digital games;
- gamification and playful experience design;
- virtual reality, augmented reality, extended reality and immersive experiences;
- the metaverse, virtual worlds and emerging forms of playful interaction;
- games, education and learning;
- games, communication and culture;
- games, creativity and innovation;

- playful activities applied to organizations, leadership and professional development;
- games, heritage, museums and cultural experiences;
- game design, narrative, interaction and user experience;
- research methodologies and evaluation of games and playful activities; and
- the social, cultural, educational and communicative implications of emerging game technologies.
Interdisciplinary Approach
Ludos International Journal of Games Studies encourages dialogue among the social and communication sciences, humanities, education, design, digital technologies, information sciences and other fields of knowledge concerned with games and play.
The journal particularly welcomes research that connects different disciplinary perspectives and contributes to a deeper understanding of how playful practices and technologies are shaping contemporary forms of learning, communication, cultural participation, creativity and social interaction.
Types of Contributions
The journal considers original contributions that demonstrate methodological rigor, theoretical relevance and a clear contribution to knowledge. Submissions may include original research articles, theoretical and conceptual papers, systematic and scoping reviews, methodological contributions, case studies and other scholarly formats consistent with the journal's aims and editorial policies.
Ludos International Journal of Games Studies accepts contributions in English and Spanish.
