This document provides details on the layout requirements for submitting your final manuscript to GDI. Revista de investigación de Género, Diseño e Innovación.
Formatting Requirements
- Download the template
- It must include a title page and an abstract.
- Do not include page numbers, headers, or footers. These will be added by the editors.
- The journal accepts articles in Spanish and English.
- Submit your manuscript, including tables, figures, appendices, etc., as a single file (Word, RTF, or PDF files are accepted).
- Page size should be A4.
- The left and right margins must be 2.5 cm. And the top and bottom margins must be 3 cm.
- The text must be justified.
- Sources:
- Calibri - 11 pt. or the closest comparable font available
- If figures are included, use high-resolution figures, preferably encoded as encapsulated PostScript (eps).
- When possible, there should be no pages where more than a quarter of the page is empty space.
Additional Recommendations
Indenting, Line Spacing, and Justification
- Do not indent paragraphs, except for those that are direct quotes of more than 40 words.
- Insert an additional space between paragraphs of text.
- Don’t leave “widowed” or “orphaned” text (i.e., don’t end a page with the first line of a paragraph or start a page with the last line of a paragraph).

Language & Grammar
- Texts must be in Spanish; texts written in English will also be accepted.
- Authors must use correct academic writing.
Article Length
- The article should be a minimum of 4,000 words and a maximum of 8,000 words, including bibliographical references.
Text colour
- Set the font colour to black for the text.
- Make sure there are no comments or colour marks in the final version, unless they are intended to be part of the final text. You may need to accept all changes in Track Changes or set the document to Normal view to remove final mark-ups.
Highlighted text
- Whenever possible use italics to indicate text you wish to emphasize rather than underlining it. The use of color to emphasize text is not recommended.

- You must use Calibri font in the text.
- Except when special symbols are needed, use Times or the closest comparable font available.
Font size
- The main body of the text should be 11pt. in font size.
Terms in other languages
- Whenever possible, terms in other languages should be written in italics rather than underlined.
Headings
- Titles (for example, the beginning of sections) must be distinguished from the main body of the text by using bold style. Use the same font for all headings and indicate hierarchy by reducing the font size. There should be space above and below the titles.

- The font for the main body of text must be black and, if at all possible, in Times or closest comparable font available.

- Whenever possible, titles of books, movies, etc., should be set in italics rather than underlined.

Footnotes
- Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the page where they are referenced, not at the end of the work. Footnotes should be in Calibri, 9 pt, single-spaced, with a separating line above the footnotes. Avoid excessively long footnotes. All footnotes must be left justified.
Tables and Figures
- The maximum number of figures in an article is six.
- As far as possible, tables and figures should appear in the document close to where they are referenced in the text. Large tables or figures should be placed on separate pages.
- The font for image captions shall be Calibri 11 pt.
- In no case should tables or figures be in a separate document or file.
Mathematical expressions
- Latin letters used in mathematical expressions as variables must be in italics. Latin letters used as part of multi-letter function names should not be in italics.
- Whenever possible, subscripts and superscripts should be smaller in font size than the main text.
Bibliographic References
- APA 7th edition is used for proper citation.
- First name of first author
- It is the author's obligation to provide complete and correct references with the necessary information.
- References should appear just after the end of the document, starting on the last page if possible.
- References must be laid out with a French indent, 1.25 cm.
- The bibliographic references are arranged alphabetically.
- Each reference must include the surnames of all authors and their full first names.
