Although Espacios Coreográficos is conceived as a contemporary intervention, it establishes a conceptual dialogue with the principles that informed Rafael Bergamín’s original design. Beyond its physical language, the Casa del Marqués de Villora embodies a rationalist approach in which architecture becomes a tool for organising everyday life through clarity, order and carefully articulated relationships between spaces. Spanish Rationalism was not exclusively concerned with constructional efficiency or aesthetic reduction. It also sought to redefine domestic experience by proposing new ways of inhabiting space, where movement, light and functional organisation shaped daily routines. In this sense, architecture operated as an instrument capable of structuring behaviour without relying on ornament or symbolic representation. Espacios Coreográficos engages with this legacy from a contemporary perspective. While the project introduces new spatial narratives and temporary modes of occupation, it shares with Rationalism the understanding that architecture can influence the way bodies move, interact and inhabit space. As opposed to reproducing the historical language of the building, the intervention extends one of its underlying ambitions: the capacity of spatial organisation to shape human experience. This continuity is therefore conceptual rather than stylistic. The project does not imitate the architecture of the Casa del Marqués de Villora but establishes a dialogue with its rationalist beliefs, reinterpreting the relationship between space, movement and everyday life through contemporary interior design.
