Description

The project proceeds from the hypothesis that a house can build a book: architecture does not passively house writing but actively participates in its production through physical and sensory variables, height, light, colour, texture, acoustics, correlated with specific cognitive states in the writing process. This hypothesis draws on Michel Foucault’s theory of heterotopia, on Evidence-Based Design (EBD), on the phenomenology of architecture, and on cognitive-behavioural research into creativity and attention. The theoretical framework that follows sets out, in full, the four bodies of theory the project relies on before turning, from section 2.8 onward, to the resulting programme
