Desde años atrás, ha habido un aumento en la priorización y la importancia de las mascotas en nuestra sociedad. El 90% de los dueños consideran a su amigo peludo un miembro más de la familia. A pesar de esto y de la implementación de la nueva ley de bienestar animal, en 2022 más de 285.000 perros y gatos fueron recogidos de la calle por protectoras. Una de las principales causas de abandono es el factor económico. El gasto anual medio que conlleva tener una mascota es de 1300€. Una cifra que se reparte principalmente entre alimentación y salud. En 2015 la ONU adoptó el desperdicio de alimentos como uno de los 17 Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible. Los productos alimenticios, también los de animales, son desperdiciados continuamente y el 10% de los casos tiene que ver con la fecha de consumo preferente y el mal uso de esta. Con los medicamentos ocurre lo mismo. Los veterinarios no pueden administrar un tratamiento que esté cerca de su fecha de vencimiento, pero, ¿Qué ocurre con estos medicamentos? ¿Y el pienso que queda acumulado en grandes productoras? Y si muere una mascota enferma, ¿qué se hace con las medicinas y objetos que ya no se van a utilizar? En Vetter traemos la solución. Ofrecemos una segunda vida a aquellos alimentos, medicamentos, material clínico o cualquier otro útil que por diversas razones quedan obsoletos para ciertos animales, pero que para otros con extrema necesidad pueden servir de gran ayuda. Como resultado, los fabricantes y centros veterinarios pueden liquidar sus inventarios y estos productos, les sirven a las protectoras para alimentar y cuidar de la salud de sus perros y gatos de manera más fácil. Existen varias formas de ayudar, llevando la donación a tu punto de recogida más cercano, haciendo una aportación económica a través de la web o siendo voluntario en la asociación. Gracias a esta iniciativa miles de kilos de comida y medicamentos podrán llegar a los animales más necesitados en vez de acabar en la basura o caducados en casa. Since years ago, there has been an increase in the prioritization and importance of pets in our society. 90% of owners consider their furry friend a member of the family. Despite this and the implementation of the new animal welfare law, in 2022 more than 285,000 dogs and cats were picked up from the street by protectors. One of the main causes of abandonment is the economic factor. The average annual cost of having a pet is 1,300€. A number that is distributed mainly between food and health. In 2015 the UN adopted food waste as one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Food products, including those from animals, are continuously wasted and 10% of the cases have to do with the best-before date and its misuse. The same thing happens with medicines. Veterinarians can’t administer a treatment that is close to its expiration date, but what about these medications? And the feed that remains accumulated in large producers? And if a sick pet dies, what is done with the medicines and objects that are no longer going to be used? At Vetter we bring the solution. We offer a second life to those foods, medicines, clinical material or any other tool that for various reasons are obsolete for certain animals, but for others with extreme need can be of great help. As a result, manufacturers and veterinary centers can liquidate their inventories and these products help shelters to feed and care for the health of their dogs and cats more easily. There are several ways to help, such as taking the donation to your nearest collection point, making a financial contribution through the web or volunteering in the association. Thanks to this initiative, thousands of kilos of food and medicines will be able to reach the animals most in need instead of ending up in the trash or expired at home. We will help all animals to be in good condition to be able to live a Vetter life.
